The Pickerel Lake Conservancy encourages recycling. Please haul out all materials that can be recycled in your home community. Listed below are the nearest permitted recycling and landfill options and what’s accepted as compiled by the SD Department of Environment and Natural Resources Waste Management Program.
Day County Solid Waste Facility/Dependable Sanitation
- White good appliances, salvageable metal & waste tires (for temporary storage and future recycling)
- Yard waste for composting
- Trees and untreated wood (for periodic open burning or disposal)
- Construction and demolition debris (for disposal)
- Furniture, mattresses, carpeting (for disposal)
- Ash (from
wood burning stoves or on-site tree burning) for disposal - Municipal solid waste (for temporary storage in
leak proof containers prior to transporting the waste to a permitted municipal solid waste landfill)
